Stories from WWII
I know that we aren't quite to WWII yet, but we're getting close and I think this is really interesting. This is a video of my Grandfather talking to a history class several years ago about his experiences in WWII. He fought in the Army during WWII, in the Pacific theater only, never in the European theater. Its about an hour long, but it's pretty interesting. The first 11 minutes are more general than the rest, but after that it is mostly his personal stories. History is always better when it is from a direct source, so here's the video:

Daniel, this looks like it would be super interesting to listen to, but I can't play the video. I can see a thumbnail, but when I click on the play button, it says "Could not load the video player. Try reloading the page. If the problem persists, consult the help center". I've tried refreshing and I've also tried opening it in Safari instead of Chrome, but it still doesn't work. I don't know if it's something on my end or not, but I would really like to see the video
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I just tested it without being signed into my google account and I got the same thing. So I uploaded the video to youtube and updated the post with the new link. This one should work, hopefully. Thanks.
DeleteHi! The link doesn't work for me. However, I think it is a really interesting good idea to hear history from a direct source! My neighbors before they moved away used to tell us stories about WWII and about how they met through her being a nurse and him being a pilot. Another story I particularly like is that of a WWII candy bomber. His plane would tilt from side to side and then release candy with parachutes attached. German children would run and grab the candy. Here is a link to an interview with the candy bomber: http://www.today.com/video/today/53910865#53910865 It is super interesting so take a look! Thanks for posting!
